APPLICATIONS YOUNG JURY 2020
The 26th edition of the Festival International Nature Namur will take place from Friday 9 to Sunday 18 October 2020. After the success of the first Young Jury for the Festival’s 25th birthday, the FINN calls again for applications to form the Young Jury of 2020.
For its 26th edition, the FINN welcomes a Young Jury during the Focus Environment day. This jury, composed by 5 young people aged minimum 16 and students of the 5th to 7th year of high school, will be supervised and taken care of by the Festival Team on Tuesday 15th and Saturday 17th of October 2020.
These young people will have the opportunity to watch movies about environmental subjects, meet filmmakers and share their opinion on the films with other members of the jury. They will issue the Environment Award to their favorite film at the Gala of professional films.
Let the young people speak
The Festival wishes to help young people to develop their critical sense towards information transmitted via different ways of communication. In this sense, the young jury is organized as a tool to let young people give their opinion about the cinematographic quality of the documentaries they watched and on the relevance of the subjects in the friendly atmosphere of a film festival.
Call for application for students from the 5thto the 7th year of high school
The call for applications is open for young people from the 5th to the 7th year of high school, aged at least 16. Registrations are open from Friday 15 November 2019 to Friday 1st of May 2020.
To register, the teenagers must fill in the application form that is available below and send it back signed by one of the parents via e-mail or mail.
The preselection is until Sunday 3 May 2020. Before that date, the young people that are registered will watch a series of short films on an online platform. Once they have watched all films, they will have to fill in a form, based on which the FINN’s selection committee will preselect 20 persons.
The selection of the 5 members of the Young Jury will take place on the second half of the month of May. The 20 preselected will have an oral interview with the committee of professionals in order to select the 5 participants to the Young Jury. This committee will take into consideration several criteria: the young person’s interest for environmental challenges, the preservation of nature, the cinema and also his/her personality and capacity to express his/her point of view whilst respecting the group.
