As a result of the Coronavirus epidemic, the FINN had to cancel all of its decentralisations of the Spring season. During that same period, our teams had to cope with a lot of uncertainties about whether the Festival 2020 would take place or not. All these questions turned quickly into imagination and creativity. How to make the 26th edition possible whilst respecting all the sanitary and financial measures ?

Today, the conclusion of this brainstorming is crystal clear : the 26th edition of the International Nature Festival of Namur will be supportive, unusual and respectful to live the emotion together... « Nature is a show! »

Solidarity against adversity

The fact that the edition of 2020 still goes on was guided by the wish to support sectors that have seen their activities being stopped for several months. Image and nature professionals can count on the Festival to put their work in the spotlights and present it to the public in October in Namur. For 25 years now, these different actors have offered us the best tools of awareness towards nature. We simply couldn't let them down in the difficult moments they are going through at this time.

An unusual edition for resilience

In this unusual context, the 26th FINN has taken example on nature and its great adapting faculties. Indeed, the edition of 2020 will be adapted more than once, starting with one big change, the moving of the Festival's heart !

During 10 days, the Citadelle becomes the principal location of our various activities. The nature films, the photo exhibitions, the stands of the Nature Village and the school animations will take place in the old fort's buildings and the several outside grass spots.

Exceptional circumstances mean a consequent moving! The Festival will also taken place in the Delta, former House of Culture, during several afternoons and evenings.. The big hall and the Tambour hall will travel all around the world thanks to the amazing animal documentaries. The corridors will also be dressed up with beautiful photo exhibitions.

Respect of the public, a golden rule of the FINN since 25 years

Since 25 years, our team's priority is to welcome the public in the best conditions in a cosy atmosphere. Through the editions, this atmosphere has allowed the Festival to become a real place of encounter between professionals and the public.

The daily news reminds us that all lights are not green yet. Based on the restrictions that are applied today, the FINN studies every detail to ensure the sanitary security and to welcome the public securely. Respect of the bubbles, limited capacity of the halls, way-marked paths, flow management, ... are all examples that can be adapted weekly according to the most recent decisions. The respect and security of the public is the main priority of this very unusual edition !

We sincerely thank the different public institutions that have renewed their support for the edition 2020. This financial help of the Walloon Region, the Province, the City of Namur and Comité Animation Citadelle asbl will allow everybody to experience a supportive, unusual and respectful 26th edition, while claiming all together : « Nature is a show ! »
