The Namur Nature Film Festival… where amateurs, professionals and photographers meet.
When the first Namur Amateur Nature Video Film Festival was created in early autumn 1995, no-one had any idea that, fifteen years later, this gathering of amateur video-makers, united by the same passion for the nature, was to become one of the most widely appreciated and best rewarding festivals in Belgium but also throughout Europe.
Organised for four years in the lecture hall Pedro Arrupe of the Facultés universitaires Notre-Dame de la Paix, the Festival takes place today in the cinema Acinapolis in Jambes. Since 1999, the Théâtre Royal de Namur has also welcomed a Grand Gala Evening.
Undeniably a major meeting for all the Nature-entousiasts, the Festival gathers each year thousands of people.
First objective: to promote the beauties of our planet on the big screen but also to highlight its fragility. For 15 years, the Festival has presented a selection of the best films “nature” voted by a jury, composed of audiovisual and nature professionals, combining aesthetic, as well cinematographic and scientific criteria.
From 2006 Festival has extended to a professional category !
Five days are dedicated to the diffusion of international professionnal films.
The Festival have also a special category for photographers. The main theme is Nature in the broad sense of the term.
